As Superbowl LIV quickly approaches in Miami, it will be the fans in San Francisco and Kansa city who will be celebrating with the most passion as they enjoy their staple dishes. Kansas City fans will be looking forward to their second Superbowl appearance ever, their first in 50 years, and hopefully their second Superbowl win. The San Francisco 49ers on the other hand hope to go six-for-six as this year will their sixth Superbowl appearance and possibly their sixth Superbowl win. Both teams have a lot to root for this Sunday, but they will do so in their own style.

Kansas City fans will celebrate enjoying some delicious barbecue. The city has a long list of iconic staple restaurants that serve various barbecue dishes like ribs and burnt ends. Burnt ends were given away for free by barbecue restaurants around the city until the 1970’s when the restaurant Arthur Bryant’s began to sell the dish which eventually made it one of the most popular barbecue spots in Kansas and is only blocks away from the home of the Chiefs. The sauce from Arthur Bryant’s has attracted former presidents such as Harry Truman, Jimmy Carter, and Barrack Obama. Kansas City barbecue is made popular by its sweet flavor and thick consistency which derives from the two main ingredients that are ketchup and molasses. Part of the fun in throwing a Superbowl party is preparing and cooking the food. Amazingribs.com has the perfect recipe for a barbecue sauce that will give dishes the iconic Kansas City flavor, so dishes are sure to be sweet. The right utensils are needed to make barbecue and luckily Amazon has a great Chiefs inspired barbecue grill set. A KC iced water cocktail would be a perfect companion to some barbecue or a refreshing drink to sip on during the game. Not much is known about the origin of the drink, but a speculation is that a bartender with much love for the city created it and named it after the city. Over the last decade its popularity has increased immensely across the country and the city has embraced the drink. Kansas City iced water is very simple, but the combination of gin, vodka, and lemon-lime soda creates a very sophisticated taste.

While Kansas City fans are enjoying their sweet and warm barbecue, 49er fans will be taking advantage of the pacific coast to enjoy clam chowder from a sourdough bread bowl. Clam chowder did not originate in San Francisco, but the art of serving the soup in a sourdough bread bowl did originate in the city and New England clam chowder is a fan favorite to pair with the sourdough. Clam chowder in mini sourdough bowls are perfect for a Superbowl celebration as guest can have multiple bowls while embracing San Francisco through a staple dish. After the warm dish, fans can indulge in a Ghirardelli chocolate-based dessert. The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company was founded in San Francisco in 1852 and is the oldest operating chocolate maker in the country so it’s definitely become a well-known landmark for the city. The joy in making these sundaes is that you can make them to your liking depending on what flavor chocolate square you choose to add to the sundae. The dessert is fun to make and makes for a great Instagram photo on Superbowl Sunday; a sundae post on Sunday. The recipe for the sundae can be baked in about 30 mins and is topped off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The sundae can be served in a 49er themed rocks glass to show team spirit.

Both fan bases are sure to have an amazing time and enjoy some delicious food. Only one team can win at Superbowl LIV, but the fans are all winners when it comes to the food from each city.
